You surely know this well: you're having an important conversation, and suddenly your phone turns off, the call is interrupted. You need to recharge the battery, but what if you're miles away from an electrical outlet where you need to plug in your phone charger? We have a solution for you. All you need is a spoonful of water. And actually something else to pour that water into.
The Swedish company myFC came up with a device for charging mobile phones without the need to plug them into the electrical grid. "MyFC PowerTrekk is essentially a small portable power plant," they describe their product. The process is very simple. You pour a little water into a separate small reservoir of the green-black myFC PowerTrekk box. Next to it, you insert the round charging cell myFC PowerPuck, which is activated by the added water. Then all you need to do is connect the device you need to charge, such as a mobile phone, to the charger using a USB cable. One "puck" (its shape really resembles a hockey puck) is enough for one charge, it's a single-use item – for further charging, you always need to use a new myFC PowerPuck, which costs about 4 dollars. This fancy charging system has wide applications wherever there is currently no access to the grid. As you can see in the video, the charger itself is small and compact, so you can carry it everywhere with you – along with a bottle of water and spare PowerPucks. And then nothing stops you from, for example, taking long expeditions far from civilization, while still being within reach of your loved ones, in case of sudden need, or just when you need to talk to someone. red
