Introduction of the Winning Project
Organization - grant applicant: Czech Union for Nature Conservation - Regional Association Iris Address: Husovo nám. 67, Prostějov, 796 01 Web: www.iris.cz Project implementation location (municipality): Prostějov region - District/region: Prostějov district/Olomouc region For the period: until 31 October 2012
Briefly and concisely describe what the goal of the project is, what you want to achieve and why.
Our goal is to engage the public in searching for, maintaining and saving disappearing wells in the region and to find patrons for the wells. At three selected wells, we will organize volunteer actions for their rescue and complete reconstruction. This will return historical elements (maintained wells) to the landscape, enrich it with small water sources to which many animals are tied, serving them as a place to live or as watering holes.
Briefly describe how you will proceed with the project implementation - what specifically you will deal with and how you will achieve the project goals.
On our website, at public awareness events and in negotiations with municipalities, we will offer people, families and school groups the opportunity to actively participate in mapping or maintaining wells, and for enthusiasts, the possibility of patronage over wells. We will have a patron certificate prepared for patrons.
Furthermore, we have identified several wells that require complete reconstruction: these are the U Františka well (cadastral area Ptení), Špraněk spring (cadastral area Ponikev), Na Pohodlí (cadastral area Stínava), U Vrby (cadastral area Kostelec na Hané), V Doubravě (cadastral area Slatinky), Na Kloboučku (cadastral area Poličky). From these wells, we will select 3 that we will reconstruct, roof, clean within the project with the participation of volunteers (including families with children) and try to find patrons for them. At the end of each event, we will leave a tin mug with the engraved name of the well at the restored wells. All participants of the rescue work action will receive a commemorative certificate with a photo of the restored well.
Indicate who will ensure the project content, possibly also with which partners you want to cooperate and what their role will be.
The project content will be ensured by a group of volunteers who already have experience with well restoration, under the leadership of the person responsible for project implementation. At the same time, we intend to cooperate with representatives of municipalities in whose cadastral area the wells are located, with associations operating in the given municipality, or - if interested - with the owners themselves. Other partners will be the Forests of the City of Prostějov and the basic organization ČSOP Bělozářka.
Briefly describe the project timeline.
- June - July 2012: reaching out to the public on the web, by email distribution (municipalities, schools) and in the form of leaflets, familiarization with the project intent
- July - September 2012: practical interventions to restore and save 3 wells
- October 2012: project completion, its evaluation and promotion at the Tree Day awareness event
